The Care Labeling Rule (16 C.F.R. 423) requires manufacturers and importers of covered textile clothing and manufacturers and importers of piece goods used to make textile clothing to disclose care information to consumers. Consumers use this information in making purchase decisions and to avoid ineffective fabric care practices. Professional cleaners also use this information for proper cleaning care of fabrics.
