For SPD 2000, delete references to 'unpaid jobs' in questions 815 and 816 and replace with wording similar to that used in the March 2000 CPS Supplement. Revise scale in question 1450 to replace 'pretty much conflict' with 'a lot of conflict.' Prior to SPD 2001 submission, review various reference periods used throughout the instrument and revise to be consistent

The 2000 SPD is a household-based survey designed as an omnibus data collection vehicle that can provide the basis for an overall evaluation of how well welfare reforms are achieving the aim of the Administration and the Congress and meeting the needs of the American people. The 2000 SPD measures features of the welfare program, both programs being reformed and those that remain unchanged. Also measured are other important social, economic, demographic, and family changes that reflect the effectiveness of the welfare reforms.
