Abstract: Under 35 U.S.C. para 31 and 37 CFR 1.31 - 1.36, a patent applicant or assignee of record may appoint a power of attorney or authorization of agent to a person who is registered to practice before the Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) to act for them in a representative capacity. Under 37 CFR 1.33,applicants, assignees, or representatives of record can also provide a correspondence address to receive correspondence from the PTO.
