Approved as amended by and consistent with NSF's memo to OMB of 8/24/98. In addition, NSF agrees to the following terms: 1) NSF will revise the instructions in Appendix A to indicate that for those respondents who submit proposals through the Fastlane electronic process, no additional paper copies need be submitted. 2) NSF will continue to investigate the different alternative strategies to the requirement that respondents submit more than the orgibal plus two copies of a proposal. 3) NSF will continue to work towards eliminating requests for institution EIN and/or TIN in favor of the D-U-N-S number. 4) NSF will continue its efforts to increase the percentage of respondents that submit proposals electronically, above and beyond the goals set out in NSF's GPRA plan. 5) OMB notes that consistent with NSF's response #2 in the 8/24 memo, this approval will last for 1 year.
