Abstract: This collection is to protect American agriculture and its forests from exotic plant pests likely to cause immense economic damage if established. Certain classes of wood products are permitted entry provided they are processed or treated in such a way that any pests are killed or eliminated. This proposed rule (96-031-1) is designed to allow the importation of wood chips from Chile, provided the wood has been treated with pesticide to destroy any insect pest that may be infesting the wood chips.
