Owners/operators of oil- and coal-fired steam generating units with heat input capacities of 10 to 100 million btu/hr must monitor SO2 emissions and submit quarterly compliance reports. Monitoring techniques vary by fuel type or unit size. Monitoring of opacity and submission of quarterly excess emissions reports are required for coal-, wood-, and residual oil-fired units greater than 30 million btu/hr input capacity.
