Terms of Clearance: This collection is approved per ED's memorandum of 1/17/97 and on the following condition. As agreed to with OMB, ED shall submit a copy of any changes to be made to the survey instrument as a result of the field test. If the changes to be made are not minor, ED shall submit the LCS through the formal review process per the requirements under the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995.

Abstract: This survey will be used to request information from library cooperatives. The LCS survey data will be used along with the Public Libraries Survey (PLS) and the State Libraries Agency Survey (STLA) to obtain a more complete picture of library services in the Nation. LCS descriptive data will be aggregated and published at the natinal and State levels. Descriptive data will also be accessible in electronic files by each library cooperative organization and by State.
