This action provides six months approval of the collection of acreage reports for the NAP program. The terms of clearance that apply to this docket in the approval of 0560-0169 are still pending. OMB continues to expect timely completion of amendments to this docket pursuant to the 1996 Farm Bill and compliance with the terms of clearance related to acreage reports. If the analysis the agency conducts in the course of meeting the terms of clearance for this docket indicates that information required in the NAP regulation is not necessary for the proper functioning of the program, OMB expects the agency to undertake t he rulemaking necessary to eliminate those reporting requirements .

The Federal Agriculture Improvement and Reform Act of 1996 provides the Secretary of Agriculture shall operate a noninsured crop disaster assistance program to provide coverage equivalent to the catastrophic risk protection otherwise available under section 508(b) of the Federal Crop Insurance Act. The Act also requires producers to provide reports on acreage planted or prevented from being planted.
