The 1996 Race and Ethnic Test will test major changes in, or alternatives to, the 1990 census race and ethnic questions. Alternative census questionnaires will be mailed to targeted areas with high proportions of persons in 6 racial and ethnic groups. The reinterview is designed to assess the accuracy and reliability of the race and ethnic information collected.
