Abstract: The Secretary of Agriculture and Congress need data on farmland values and rents to formulate agricultural policy. ERS needs the data for staff analyses for the Secretary and Congress, research on economic well-being of producers and rural communities, forecasting farmland values, and responding to public requests. Farmers/ranchers, realtors/appraisers, and lenders participate in the survey.
