IN RESPONSE TO INFORMATION PROVIDED AT PUBLIC HEARINGS, RESULTS OF A MEAT AND POULTRY HOTLINE SURVEY, AND OTHER INFORMATION, FSIS HAS DETERMINED THAT ITS CURRENT POLICY ON THE USE OF THE TERM "FRESH" ON THE LABELING OF RAW POULTRY PRODUCTS HAS CONSIDERABLE POTENTIAL TO MISLEAD CONSUMERS. THEREFORE, FSIS IS AMENDING ITS POLICY, AND SOME ESTABLISHMENTS LABELING RAW POULTRY PRODUCTS WOULD HAVE TO MAKE LABELING CHANGES.
