Abstract: THE CPI HOUSING SURVEY COLLECTS DATA ON 38,000 RENTER-OCCUPIED HOUSING UNITS INTERVIEWED SEMI-ANNUALLY AND 26,000 OWNER-OCCUPIED UNITS INTERVIEWED BIENNIALLY. THE SURVEY MEASURES PRICE CHANGE FOR THE RENT AND OWNERS' EQUIVALENT RENT COMPONENTS OF THE CIP, WHICH ACCOUNT FOR 25 PERCENT OF ITS TOTAL WEIGHT.
