Pursuant to the Paperwork Reduction Act, we have extended approval for the information collection requirements reflected in this package, wit the following conditions. One, MSHA continues to require submission o miner-specific noise reports only in cases of non-compliance. Simple written certifications of compliance are necessary when noise standard are met. Two, MSHA continues to print a current expiration date on MS form 2000-168.

COAL MINE OPERATORS ARE REQUIRED TO REPORT TO MSHA WHEN NOISE EXPOSURE SURVEYS SHOW NONCOMPLIANCE WITH PERMISSIBLE LEVELS. RECORDS ARE ALSO REQUIRED TO BE KEPT AT THE MINE OF WHEN AND BY WHOM NOISE DOSIMETERS A ACOUSTICAL CALIBRATORS ARE RECALIBRATED.
