Abstract: IN 1990, CONGRESS DIRECTED THE COMMISSION TO CONDUCT RESEARCH THAT COU LEAD TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF A PERFORMANCE STANDARD TO REDUCE CIGARETTE IGNITION PROPENSITY. INFORMATION FROM THIS STUDY AND THE CONCURRENT FIRE INCIDENT STUDY WILL ENABLE THE COMMISSION TO EVALUATE THE RELATIVE CONTRIBUTIONS OF CIGARETTE CHARACTERISTICS TO FIRE RISKS.
