Terms of Clearance: This information collection is approved in concept only. Absent a clear understanding of planned intervention strategies, the utility of a baseline and follow-up survey measuring the effects of such strategi is questionable. In addition, such surveys likely would not be the least burdensome possible because CDC will not be able to target specific subpopulations or specific information prior to the design of specific interventions. For the same reasons, the pilot test, testing the methodological procedures for such studies, also has limited ap- plicability. OMB encourages CDC to meet with OMB prior to CDC's next submission to discuss these and other issues relevant to the proposed information collection.

Abstract: PILOT HOUSEHOLD SURVEY TO FIELD TEST SURVEY PROTOCOLS, PROVIDE PRELIMINARY ESTIMATES OF DIABETES PREVALENCE, AND OBTAIN THE INFORMATI NECESSARY TO DESIGN AND IMPLEMENT SUBSEQUENT COMMUNITY DIABETES SURVEY INFORMATION FROM THE STUDY ACTIVITIES WILL BE USED TO PLAN AND DEVELOP THE BASELINE COMMUNITY SURVEYS AND INTERVENTION ACTIVITIES, EVALUATING THE BURDEN OF DIABETES IN A HIGH-RISK COMMUNITY.
