Abstract: FEDERAL REGULATIONS (50 CFR 216.24) REQUIRE SUBMISSION OF REPORTS OF TAKING OF MARINE MAMMALS INCIDENTAL TO COMMERCIAL FISHING OPERATIONS WHENEVER A TAKING OCCURS. REPORTS ARE DEEMED NECESSARY TO ASSIST THE AGENCY IN A DETERMINATION OF THE HEALTH AND STATUS OF MARINE MAMMALS A REQUIRED BY THE MMPA.
