PERMITS ARE REQUIRED BY THE MMPA TO MAKE PURSE SEINE SETS ON TUNA AFTE SUNDOWN IF MARINE MAMMALS ARE INVOLVED AND TO DEVIATE FROM THE SPECIFI REQUIEMENTS REGARDING FISHING OPERATIONS. THESE PROVISIONS ARE DESIGN TO HELP REDUCE MARINE MAMMAL MORTALITY DURING FISHING OPERATIONS AND T STILL ALLOW FLEXIBILITY FOR THE FISHERMAN TO FISH ECONOMICAL.
