Rather the data will have practical utility as descriptive information on the rates of hepatitus B virus (HBV) seroprevalence among public safety workers in the locales being studied and the relation between various job categories and occupation exposure to blood and blood-containing bodily fluids for these workers REMARKS CONTINUED...

THIS REQUEST IS FOR A 3-YEAR APPROVAL TO COLLECT BLOOD SPECIMENS AND QUESTIONNAIRE RESPONSES FROM HEALTH CARE WORKERS AND PUBLIC SAFETY WORKERS SUCH AS FIREFIGHTERS, POLICE, AND PRISON GUARDS IN ORDER TO STUDY THE OCCUPATIONAL RISK OF HEPATITIS B VIRUS (HBV) INFECTION. THE RESULTS OF THE PROPOSED STUDY WILL ASSIST IN IDENTIFICATION OF WORKERS WHO ARE AT OCCUPATIONAL RISK OF HBV INFECTION.
