Terms of Clearance: OMB notes that OMB approval for this information collection expired on 10/31/89. HUD has violated the Paperwork Reduction Act (5 CFR 1320.4) which states that "An agency shall not engage in a collection of information without obtaining Office of Management and Budget approval of the collection of information and displaying a currently valid OMB control number..." Furthermore, "Notwithstanding any other provision of law, no person shall be subject to any penalty for failure to compl with any collection of information: (1) That does not display a currently valid OMB control number..." (5 CFR 1320.5) In its next sub- mission HUD shall indicate how many loans are outstanding and how long the program is expected to continue.

Abstract: AN ESSENTIAL ELEMENT OF THE COINSURANCE PROGRAM IS HUD'S RESPONSIBILIT TO MONITOR LENDERS TO ASSURE ADHERENCE AND COMPLIANCE TO STATUTORY AND REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS. THE AUTOMATED DATA COLLECTION SYSTEMS WILL ENABLE HUD TO EVALUATE AND REVIEW ON AN ON-GOING BASIS LENDER'S UNDERWRITING PRACTICES AND SUBSEQUENT PROJECT PERFORMANCE.
