Abstract: THE PROPOSED "LABORATORY RESEARCH ON THE CPS" WOULD DETERMINE WHETHER THE QUESTIONS IN THE CPS QUESTIONNAIRE ARE STILL RELEVANT, PROPERLY UNDERSTOOD, AND WORDED SO AS TO YIELD THE APPROPRIATE INFORMATION. THE CPS IS THE PRIMARY SOURCE OF DATA ON EMPLOYMENT AND UNEMPLOYMENT, AND THE PROPOSE RESEARCH IS DESIGNED TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF THESE DATA, WHICH ARE WIDELY USED WITHIN AND OUTSIDE THE GOVERNMENT.
