Abstract: THE PROPOSED COLLECTION IS A DETAILED ON-SITE AND MAILBACK SURVEY OF A REPRESENTATIVE SAMPLE OF RECREATION VISITORS TO FEDERAL LANDS. VISITO ARE ASKED ABOUT THEIR RECREATION TRIP ACTIVITIES AND EXPENDITURES, SATISFACTIONS AND PREFERENCES. THE RESULTS ARE USED BY RECREATION MANAGERS AND PLANNERS TO GAUGE EFFECTIVENESS OF RECREATION PROGRAMS AN TO MODIFY PROGRAMS TO MEET PUBLIC NEEDS.
