Abstract: ON CENSUS DAY--APRIL 1, 1990--THE CENSUS BUREAU WILL CONDUCT THE 21ST DECENNIAL CENSUS. THIS FIELD CODING OPERATION IS A NECESSARY PART OF THE CENSUS BECAUSE, IN SOME AREAS OF THE COUNTRY, U.S. POSTAL SERVICE AND COMMERCIAL VENDOR ADDRESS LISTS ARE SHOWN TO BE UNRELIABLE. THIS OPERATION IS THE FINAL OPPORTUNITY FOR THE CENSUS BUREAU TO UPDATE ITS ADDRESS LIST PRIOR TO CENSUS DAY.
