WE WILL USE CPP CATI TO GATHER INFORMATION ON THE TYPE OF OUTLETS AT WHICH CONSUMERS SHOP FOR SELECTED ITEMS. CPP DATA ARE USED TO UPDATE PERIODICALLY THE NATION'S CONSUMER PRICE INDEX (CPI). THIS PHASE IS A FEASIBILITY TEST TO DETERMINE IF THESE DATA CAN BE COLLECTED COST-EFFECTIVELY BY COMPUTER ASSISTED TELEPHONE INTERVIEWING. RESPONDENT LETTERS TO INFORM THE RESPONDENT OF THE PURPOSE OF THE SURVEY.
