DATA COLLECTION DURING THE 1987-88 SCHOOL YEA INCLUDES COGNITIVE EXERCIESS IN READING, WRITING, CIVICS, U.S. HISTORY MATH AND SCIENCE, AND ACHIEVEMENT-RELATED STUDENT, TEACHER, AND SCHOO. BACKGROUND AND ATTITUDE QUESTIONNAIRES. RESPONDENTS WILL BE A NATIONA SAMPLE OF STUDENTS AT AGES 9, 13, AND 17 (GRADES 4, 8, 12) AND TEACHER
