Abstract: DURING THE FIRST QUARTER OF 1987 THE FDIC CONDUCTED A TELEPHONE SURVEY OF STATE BANKING REGULATORS TO DETERMINE THE ADDITIONAL POWERS CONFERRED UPON STATE-CHARTERED BANKS. THE FDIC USES THIS INFORMATION TO PERFORM LEGISLATIVE AND REGULATORY PROGRAM PLANNING DURING THIS PERIOD OF CHANGE RESULTING FROM THE DEREGULATION OF THE BANKING INDUSTRY.
