THE BEEF PROMOTION AND RESEARCH ACT (TITLE XVI A OF THE FOOD SECURITY ACT 1985) AUTHORIZES THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A BEEF PROMOTION AND RESEARCH PROGRAM TO BE FINANCED THROUGH ASSESSMENTS ON DOMESTIC CATTLE AND IMPORTED CATTLE, BEEF, AND BEEF PRODUCTS. THIS ACT IS A FORM OF SELF-ASSESSMENT BY THE BEEF INDUSTRY.
