Abstract: THE CIVIL SERVICE RETIREMENT LAW REQUIRES THAT A SURVIVOR ANNUITY TO WIDOW OR WIDOWER TERMINATE ON THE LAST DAY OF THE MONTH BEFORE REMARRIAGE WHEN REMARRIAGE OCCURS BEFORE AGE 60 (SECTION 8341(B)(3), TITLE 5, U.S. CODE). FORM BRI 49-175 CERTIFICATE OF MARITAL STATUS IS THE DOCUMENT USED TO POLICE THIS PROVISION OF THE LAW.
