Abstract: PERMITS ARE REQUIRED TO IDENTIFY THE UNIVERSE OF COMMERCIAL VESSELS ENGAGED IN FISHING OPERATIONS ON THE GULF OF MEXICO KING MACKEREL MIGRATORY GROUPS DUE TO THE OVERFISHED CONDITIONS. A QUOTA HAS BEEN SET WHICH PROVIDES THE COMMERCIAL SHARE OF THE STOCK REBUILDING BURDEN COUNCILS AND NMFS WILL USE THE DATA TO MONITOR CATCH LEVELS AND TO TRIGGER CLOSURE DATES.
