Abstract: OSHA REQUIRES A RECORD OF PERIODIC THOROUGH INSPECTION OF IDLE ROPES O OVERHEAD AND GANTRY CRANES, MOBILE CRANES, AND DERRICKS. THE INSPECTIONS ARE TO DETERMINE THE CONDITION OF THE WIRE ROPES TO PREVEN INJURY TO EMPLOYEES DUE TO ROPE FAILURE DURING USE.
