Abstract: USDA NEEDS INFORMATION FROM THIS SURVEY TO INFORM THE SECRETARY, CONGRESS, AND FEDERAL AND OTHER LENDERS ON SHORT-TERM CHANGES IN VALUE OF FARMLAND. ERS NEEDS THE INFORMATION TO IMPROVE ESTIMATES OF LAND VALUE TRENDS FOR USE IN ECONOMIC ANALYSES EVALUATING THE WELL-BEING OF FARMERS AND THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR OF THE ECONOMY, AND AS A BASIS FOR PROGRAM AND POLICY FORMATION. REAL ESTATE APPRAISERS ARE THE PRINCIPAL RESPONDENTS.
