Abstract: MEMBER PARTICIPATION IS THE BED-ROCK OF AG. COOPS. WITHOUT ACTIVE PARTICIPATION OF THEIR MEMBERS AG. COOPS. FAIL. THIS STUDY SEEKS TO UNDERSTAND WOMEN'S PARTICIPATION IN AG. COOPS, WHY IT OCCURS, WHY IT DOES NOT OCCUR, AND AT WHAT LEVEL IN THE ORGANIZATION IT OCCURS. FROM SUCH INFORMATION BETTER MEMBER PARTICIPATION PROGRAMS CAN BE DESIGNED AND THE EFFECTIVENESS AND PERFORMANCE OF FARMERS' COOPERATIVE BUSINESS IMPROVED.
