Abstract: THIS SURVEY PROVIDES THE ONLY CONTINUING AUTHORITATIVE MEASURE OF ANNUAL SALES, PURCHASES, YEAR-END INVENTORIES, AND ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE BALANCES. THE SALES AND INVENTORIES ARE USED AS BENCHMARKS FOR THE MONTHLY SERIES. THESE DATA, ALONG WITH PURCHASES, ALSO ARE USED BY TH BUREAU OF ECONOMIC ANALYSIS IN COMPUTATION OF THE GNP. (SEE BOTTOM)
