Terms of Clearance: Collection of EEO-1 data during FY 1983 is not approved on the following grounds: 1) EEOC has not demonstrated a need to collect data on an annual basis--a biennial data collection should serve EEOC and OFCCP needs, 2)EEOC has apparantly not been able to make full use of data collected during FY 1982, 3) in view of 1) and2) above, the burden imposed upon employers is unnecessary and excessive. Under this action, EEOC may be considered to have approval to collect EEO-1 data during FY 1984 and in succeeding even-numbered fiscal years.

Abstract: EEO-1 DATA ARE USED BY EEOC TO INVESTIGATE CHARGES OF DISCRIMINATION IN EMPLOYMENT AGAINST PRIVATE EMPLOYERS. DATA ARE SHARED WITH SEVERAL FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, PARTICULARLY THE OFFICE OF FEDERAL CONTRA COMPLIANCE PROGRAMS, U.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR. UNDER SECTION 709(D) O TITLE VII, DATA ARE ALSO SHARED WITH APPROXIMATELY 43 STATE AND LOCAL FEPC AGENCIES.
