Abstract: THE SURVEY DATA ARE USED BY ERS, USDA, TO HELP MEET THE DEPARTMENT'S CONGRESSIONAL REQUIREMENT TO MEASURE AND ANALYZE FARM-TO-RETAIL PRICE SPREADS. FLOUR PRICES DEVELOPED FROM BLS PRICES AND CENSUS DATA WERE FOUND TO BE UNSATISFACTORY. REPORTS ARE PREPARED BY ERS TO PROVIDE INFORMATION FOR THE USE OF OFFICIALS IN THE DEPARTMENT AND THE CONGRES IN MAKING DECISIONS RELATED TO FOOD AND AGRICULTURAL POLICY.
