Abstract: LETTER 1460(DO) WAS DEVELOPED TO ASSIST IN ADMINISTERING THE INTERNAL REVENUE CODE. CERTAIN BULK PURCHASERS OF DIESEL FUEL ARE REQUIRED TO FILE FORM 720 AND PAY EXCISE TAX ON THE FUEL'S USE OR SALE AT RETAIL. LETTER 1460(DO) IS NEEDED TO CONTACT BULK PRUCHASERS WHO HAVE NOT FILED FORM 720. WE USE THE INFORMATION TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT THE PRUCHASER SHOULD HAVE FILED THE FORM.
