Abstract: THE UNITED STATES IS A SIGNATORY OF THE INTERNATIONAL WHALING CONVENTI OF 1946 AND A MEMBER OF THE INTERNATIONAL WHALING COMMISSION (62 STAT, 1716, T.I.A.S. IWC DIRECTED THE UNITED STATES TO DETERMINE THE NEED OF ALASKA NATIVES TO TAKE THE BOWHEAD WHALE. THIS STUDY IS THE BASIS OF DETERMINING THAT NEED.
