Abstract: 26 USC 6001 REQUIRES TAXPAYERS TO KEEP RECORDS TO VERIFY THEIR RETURNS AND COMPLY WITH REGULATIONS. THE INFORMATION ON FORM RC-C-GEN. 4-874 IS USED TO DETERMINE WHETHER IT WOULD BE BENEFICIAL TO BOTH THE TAXPAYER AND THE IRS TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT TO LIMIT THE NUMBER OF MACHINE SENSIBLE RECORDS TO BE RETAINED. THIS IS TO INSURE THAT TAXPAYERS KEEP RECORDS REQUIRED BY LAW.
