Abstract: THE 1982 ECONOMIC CENSUSES CONSTITUTE THE PRIMARY SOURCE OF FACTS ABOU THE STRUCTURE AND FUNCTIONING OF A LARGE SEGMENT OF THE ECONOMY. THEY PROVIDE ESSENTIAL INFORMATION FOR GOVERNMENT, BUSINESS, AND THE GENERA PUBLIC. THESE ENSUSES FURNISH AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE FRAMEWORK FOR THE NATIONAL ACCOUNTS AND SERVE AS BENCHMARKS FOR KEY ECONOMIC INDICATORS.
