Abstract: INFLUENZA VACCINATION PROGRAMS ARE DIRECTED TOWARD PROTECTING THOSE AT GREATEST RISK OF SERIOUS ILLNESS OR DEATH FROM THE DISEASE. PREVIOUS EXPERIENCES HAVE INDICATED THAT INFLUENZA RELATED DEATHS OCCUR PRIMARILY AMONG CHRONICALLY ILL ADULTS AND CHILDREN, AS WELL OLDER PERSONS, ESPECIALLY THOSE OVER 65 YEARS. THESE DATA ARE NECESSARY TO MONITOR PROGRAM ACTIVITY.
