This request for clearance is approved with the following modification 1) deletion in Part I of columns 4 & 8 ( no. contributing services or military) for faculty on 9-mo. and 12-mo. salary contracts, 2) deletion of the distribution of full-time instructional faculty (9-mo. and 12-mo. salary contracts), and 3) deletion of Part 2 : salaries of continuing faculty. Approval is given for one year only due to OMB's concern about the federal need for the survey. OMB suggests that if the Department needs to collect such data after this administration for its cost of higher education price index, it should look at alternatives such as sampling or modifying the Higher Education Staff Information Survey (EEO-6) conducted by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
