Abstract: IRC SECTIONS 1401 AND 1402 REQUIRE INDIVIDUALS TO PAY SELF-EMPLOYMENT TAX ON SELF-EMPLOYMENT INCOME. SCHEDULE SE IS USED BY INDIVIDUALS TO COMPUTE AND REPORT THEIR SELF-EMPLOYMENT INCOME AND SELF-EMPLOYMENT TAX. THE DATA IS USED IN COMPUTING THE TAXPAPERS'S INCOME TAX LIABILITY AND IS ALSO USED BY THE SOCIAL SECURITY ADMINISTRATION TO FIGURE SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS. IT IS ALSO NEEDED FOR GENERAL STATISTICS USE.
