Abstract: SCHEDULE D (FORM 1040) REFLECTS IRC SECTIONS 1202 - 1223. THIS FORM IS USED BY INDIVIDUALS TO REPORT AND SUMMARIZE THEIR CAPITAL GAINS AND LOSSES, COMPUTE THEIR CAPITAL GAIN DEDUCTION OR CAPITAL LOSS LIMITATION, AND COMPUTE THEIR POST-1969 CAPITAL LOSS CARRYOVER. THE INFORMATION IS NEEDED TO HELP THE SERVICE VERIFY THAT THE TAXPAYER HAS CORRECTLY REPORTED THE GAIN OR LOSS ON THE SALE OF CAPITAL ASSESTS AND ALSO FOR GENERAL STATISTICS USE.
