Barrier Failure Reporting in Oil and Gas Operations on the Outer Continental Shelf is a component of BTS's SafeOCS data sharing framework, that provides a trusted, proactive means for the oil and gas industry to report sensitive and proprietary safety information, and to identify early warnings of safety problems and potential issues by uncovering hidden, at-risk conditions not previously exposed through analysis of reportable equipment failures and incidents. Production safety systems, subsurface safety devices, and safety device testing, including safety and pollution prevention equipment (SPPE) each play a vital role in protecting workers and the environment during offshore oil and gas production operations. The SafeOCS SPPE data collection program offers a resource to help the oil and gas industry capture and share key lessons from significant near-miss and other safety events to prevent, identify, and mitigate potential high-consequence risks. Well control equipment (WCE) systems, including BOP equipment, are a secondary well control measure designed to control the flow of well formation fluids and other fluids during oil and gas well operations when primary well control fails. This program area offers a resource to help the oil and gas industry capture and share key lessons from WCE equipment failures to improve safety equipment reliability.
